AHEAD – Automatization of Crowd Simulation in BIM Models
On Mai 1, 2018, a new research project began: AHEAD.
accu:rate is investigating the automatic extraction of simulation-relevant data from Building Information Modeling (BIM) models in cooperation with the chair of Computational Modeling and Simulation at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). AHEAD gets supported by mFund, the funding initiative of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.
Why integrate crowd simulation into architectural plans as soon as possible? A building’s requirements can be tested in advance by simulating the building’s expected processes in the planning phase. This not only enables more precise plans, but avoids later costs that could arise from incorrect planning and subsequent modifications. The aim of AHEAD is to promote crowd simulation as an integral digital planning tool for building developers, which works alongside a BIM to provide insight at this planning phase.
accu:rate takes on the role of coordinator and expert in pedestrian flow simulations in AHEAD.
The project partner is Prof. Borrmann from the Chair of Computer-Aided Modeling and Simulation at the Technical University of Munich, who, as an expert in BIM, brings valuable knowledge to the table.
