Attention all simulation scientists: another round of new research insights, novel approaches and fascinating talks about crowd simulation is about to come next week – the 9th International Conference on Pedestrian and Evacuation Dynamics (PED).

It is the most important scientific conference on the analysis of people movement, in which the world’s leading experts in this field exchange their views on the latest research results. It will take place in Lund, Sweden, from the 21st to the 24th of August this year and will be hosted by RISE, Research Institutes of Sweden, Technical University of Denmark in Lund.

The PED takes place every two years in different countries worldwide. It addresses the interdisciplinary field of modeling and simulating people flows and provides an ideal framework for sharing the latest research findings, from different modeling approaches to psycho-social studies on pedestrian behavior and group dynamics.

Given the predicted demographic changes, the realistic representation of human movements is becoming increasingly important. For a long time, simulations have not only been used to depict evacuations, but more and more in the planning of buildings, infrastructural facilities or other processes. This trend is also reflected in the presentation topics: from data collection to the further development of various models to applications at major events or public transport, the program covers the latest topics.

In this scientific framework, Dr. Angelika Kneidl also holds a talk on 24.8. at 13:45 about the further development of simulation models: “Bridging the gap – why we need to enhance common simulation models”.

We look forward to an exciting conference on the trend topics in the industry!
